Quote from the Chronicler.

“Ropermai teems with interesting people and places. I have lost count of how many villages, towns, and cities I have visited. Vistas of natural beauty are everywhere. It would take me a very long time to recount all of the people I have met. From kings to wretches and everyone in between, I have talked to them, lived with them, and fought side by side with them. No matter their station in life, all of them live their lives hoping it will be better down the road. No matter from where they hail, they all are basically doing the same thing. Oh, they may be performing different tasks in different ways, but when you step back and look, they all want to make the world a better place. Your eyes reveal the scoffing in your heart. I can hear you say, ‘But we are better than those Zannians.’

The biggest lie common to all men is that they are superior to others. Ability and drive separate a common man from an extraordinary individual. Each man strives for his own power and glory, his children’s happiness and success, and the improvement of his fellow man. The striving remains the same. Results of this endeavor may vary, but my question for the night is, what does it take to make those giant steps in humanity? We struggle against the forces of mediocrity, boredom, futility, and frustration, and it seems impossible at times to make any headway. Are we to remain downtrodden serfs serving only one man? What is the quality in men or women who really make a difference in their community? How can those men look these problems in the face and not waver? I have narrowed it down to one thing: determination.
